Crowd
Share – Cup Day
Cup Day - Tuesday Nov 1st.
https://foodforestashy.wordpress.com/
Our Crowd Share was wonderful!! We had 4 ladies and their children attend. All of them were overwhelmed with the generosity provided by the gardeners! All want to start attending food swaps now, and took home seedlings to start growing their own !! <3 Much love to every gardener who came and so generously gave fruit, vegetables, leafy greens and seedlings! Being in the Food Forest meant that they were so inspired by the generosity of Petra and her team, building something so wonderful in a public space! The children were delighted to treasure hunt for strawberries, and play on the swings. Some rhubarb was harvested and taken home by the families, and each family received basketfuls of harvested produce as well as some herbs in pots to start their own little potted patch!!

UPCOMING EVENTS
Crowd
Harvest - Epping
Sunday November 27th, 10 am – 2 pm.
Liberty Church; 25 Miller Street, Epping.
Individual excess = Community abundance
Anyone growing food in their own backyard inevitably produces excess - more than one family can consume. Whether you just grow herbs, apply permaculture principles to urban farming or have an abundant Mediterranean food garden - there is always excess!
Melbourne food relief providers are currently met with higher demand for emergency assistance than they can cope with. People are presenting for food relief at higher rates than in the past due to financial stress, homelessness or domestic violence. Some families that present are living in their cars because they have nowhere else to go.
Perhaps if every individual contributes a little of their excess, food relief providers will have enough for everyone facing a crisis....???...
FareShare provide 5,000 meals a day to people seeking assistance, yet they need to produce more. Liberty Church also provides a food relief service to Epping. With everyone contributing a little, the whole community will have abundance :-)
If you would like to help, please bring any contribution to the FareShare refrigerated van to Liberty Church, 25 Miller St, Epping on Sunday November 27th between 10 am and 2pm. A family fun day will also be running with free face painting and other attractions.

Harvest – Seed Banks for Christmas
(or Hannukah, or Thanksgiving, or New Year :-) )
NFPs supporting, enabling and empowering those
in need to adopt self sustaining food gardening practices are looking to
establish Seed Banks. By a central body establishing a seed bank, people facing
difficult circumstances can access the seeds and establish food gardens.
Gardeners everywhere harvest more seeds than can be stored, and need to be used before they expire. In this Crowd Harvest, Australian gardeners with excess seeds are invited to send them in a Christmas card or holiday card to one or more NFPs from the list below :-)
Each of the NFPs listed below has a certified horticulturalist employed, and ready to look after the seeds, either to start the seeds, store the seeds or distribute to others facing crisis yet know how to start seeds :-) You can be assured the seeds will be looked after.
Variety is welcome!

Hopefully more NFPs wanting
to participate will come online soon. I
have had some discussions with those NFPs assisting Asylum Seekers.
The Asylum Seekers Resource Centre, Footscray have come on board on Nov 25 for the Crowd Harvest - Seed Banks: https://www.asrc.org.au/ Many asylum seekers arriving from war torn countries want to grow their own food. Some were once horticulturalists in their country of origin. They would love some food and flower seeds :-) It just a small way that Australian gardeners can show a warm welcome. They ask that the seeds go to the Tiny Trowel PO Box for me to deliver closer to Christmas. Address: P.O Box 4076, Box Hill South 3128.
I will file them from A - Z and take it in Christmas wrapping in mid December :-) Opa!
