Crowd Harvest: Herbs for Australia Day SUCCESS!

We saw amazing donations go to the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre from 'Food not Bombs'.  http://www.foodnotbombs.net/new_site/  The group donated 15 trays of herbs, strawberries and pepper plants.  Each tray had at least 20 pots of food plants!!  Fabulous!  Thanks so much!
FareShare also donated boxes of herbs!  Thanks so much!
Recipients are thrilled that they can grow their own food at home.  Such a gift provides an ongoing, self sustaining way for people to enhance their own nourishment. Folks can continue to donate small edible plants in pots at any time.  The food bank in Footscray is open from 10am - 3 pm Monday to Friday

The Green Cafe at St. Columbs Hawthorn operates as a social enterprise.  The workers train homeless youth in hospitality skills in order to assist towards employment.  The Green uses the land on the church property to grow the food for the cafe.  Chris sits here in the food produce garden holding a donated Goji Berry plant.  This Crowd Harvest campaign brought a small amount to The Green, yet they were very grateful.

If you are in Hawthorn, pop in for a cuppa and support the work assisting young people to get on their feet.  http://www.stcolumbs.org.au/Cafe
Open Monday to Sunday from 8 am - 3 pm.
Closed on public holidays.

STREAT Cafe Garden - flourishing!

After the Crowd Farming event in September, and the Crowd Seeds event for Christmas, the food produce garden in the STREAT cafe is a thriving happy place!  Architectural artichokes soar towards the sky, leading the eye up towards the row of seedlings in repurposed milk bottles hanging from the stairs.
beautiful layers of colour surround the hammocks and deck chairs, and a new grape vine creeps up the iron frame where it is destined to be the canopy for the al fresco cafe.
The folks at STREAT sowed many seeds right away. Layers of food plants growing, ready for harvest straight into the cafe kitchen. It's as fresh as you can get  Thanks so much to all the wonderful individuals, and The Diggers Club for generously contributing to helping young people up and off into a new life!

BRILLIANT!
